Using Cool Kid Tabs

Folders and live tabs

Create a top-level folder from the left pane. Open it to add child folders. Drag a live tab or window from the right pane onto a folder, or use the extension popup to save the current tab or window.

Drag saved tabs between folder sections. Starting a center-pane folder drag collapses every section to its header, so you can drop before the first folder, between folders, or after the last even when many tabs were visible. Drop or cancel restores the previous expansion and scroll position.

Saved tabs and bookmark tabs

Use the bookmark action on a tab row to change a saved tab into a bookmark tab. Enable Settings → Sync bookmark tabs with Chrome to create one managed Cool Kid Tabs root on the Bookmarks Bar.

Only bookmark tabs and the folder ancestors needed to reach them appear in Chrome. Titles, URLs, folder placement, and order synchronize both ways. Notes stay in Cool Kid Tabs. Moving the managed root is safe. Deleting it pauses sync and preserves the app library; use Reconnect in Settings to create a new root.

Chrome events synchronize immediately, with a ten-minute reconciliation as a safety net. One Chrome profile is the designated bookmark-sync owner in the current version.

Chat and automatic writes

Chat can read and replace the complete active folder-and-tab JSON. It cannot edit partial JSON or access credentials, cloud versions, Chrome IDs, deleted data, or preferences. Writes happen automatically without an approval dialog.

Before changes, Cool Kid Tabs keeps recognizable organization sessions:

• Before chat: <name> when a thread begins
• Before AI change <n>: <name> before a later agent change
• Before bookmark sync: <time> before destructive Chrome reconciliation
• Before restoring: <name> before restoring organization JSON

Browser and organization sessions share the latest-99 limit. Open Sessions to restore one. Open Trash to recover soft-deleted folders and tabs.

Import, export, and privacy

Import supports Chrome bookmarks, Toby JSON, and Cool Kid Tabs export JSON. Export downloads the complete local backup format.

Local use sends no folder or tab data to the Cool Kid Tabs service. Signing in enables cloud sync. Chat sends messages to the selected provider and sends the complete active organization JSON when the read tool runs. See the connection guide and privacy policy.
